The Remaining Bachelor Princes

My high school friend Heidi has had her heart set on Prince William for some time now, but with the future king of England finally marrying his future queen, Heidi can either go into mourning (poor girl) or set her sights on another prince. Yes, there’s Prince Harry, of course, but he’s not the only living bachelor prince wandering the earth sans royal consort. There are several eligible bachelor princes yet to be tricked into matrimony with Victoria's Secret Supermodels (as Prince Wenzeslaus of Liechtenstein nearly was). Middle Aged? Already?

When does middle age begin? 40? 45? 50? Or is it earlier, like 35 or even 30? My work buddy Randy recently joked about me being middle-aged like he is (he’s in his 50s) and I balked. Why? I’m in my 30s. To me, middle-aged is pre-old. It means I’ve lost all vestiges of young adulthood. But have I? I still feel youngish, at least maturity-wise. Grandma Gottschall’s Dutch Apple Cake

applecake dutch apple cake recipe cookWeirdly, breakfast is the one meal where you eat dessert as a main course.  Think about it:  Froot Loops and Lucky Charms, pancakes and waffles with syrup, crepes and blintzes, coffee cake and danishes, Pop Tarts and doughnuts.  It’s insane!  (I had some chocolate this morning to ‘test’ things.)  And Dutch Apple Cake.  I’m not sure what makes it a breakfast food.  Often, my Grandma Gottschall’s Dutch Apple Cake is served warm in a bowl with milk poured over it, so maybe that does it.  Mom and grandma made Dutch Apple Cake for those fancier breakfasts (foodfight-free fests) when we‘d all chow down together in a meaningful way.  This happened at least once yearly.
